We know the things that make us happy.

Our favorite foods, music, TV shows, movies and even people in our lives that we can’t get enough of. This is the stuff that we really enjoy. It’s the stuff that makes our life worth living.

Somewhere on the list is our health and appearance. We know that looking and feeling great make a good life even better.

The interesting thing about our list is that without fail we'll always make time for it.

- When our TV show airs, we watch it or record it to watch later.
- When our favorite actor stars in a new movie, we do your part by going to the theater (well, normally...)
- When we’re hungry, we turn to our favorite foods.
- When the weekend rolls around, we do everything we can to spend time with the special people in our life.

Yet when it comes to exercise we automatically say, “I don’t have time.”

Time for TV, but no time for exercise…

We live in an age where life is full. We don’t have extra time anymore - especially now that we don't get a break from kids/etc..

But we've never had time. We make time

- for our TV show.
- for our hobby.
- for our friends.

It’s time to drop the charade of “I don’t have time to exercise” and call it what it really is.

While I can't say for certain what that really might be, here are some ideas: fear, of failing; resistance, to struggle; shame, of how we feel others will think of us; guilt, of taking time for ourselves.

We know how to make time for our favorite things. We know we want good health. We know we want to feel great in our own skin. We know we want more energy.

Exercise delivers all those benefits—and more.

I believe that exercise belongs on our list of favorite things.

So, Make It A Favorite: How do you turn something that you’ve dreaded into something that you enjoy?

1. Block the Negative: Your thoughts play a big part in determining your favorite things. Block out any negative thoughts you may have about exercise. Focus your energy on creating a positive attitude that will get you excited about hitting the gym, rather than dreading it.

2. Focus on the Benefits: With exercise you have so much to gain and nothing to lose. Exercise makes you stronger, sexier, happier, and gives you more energy. Pick the benefit that moves you the most and fixate on it. Try using, "How can I _______?" and likely, your mind will turn towards the answer.
